Little Commentaries by Suzanne Buffam in Chicago, IL

Chosen Christopher DeWeese by in Atlanta, GA who says:

What a pleasure to listen to Suzanne Buffam’s Little Commentaries! These extremely short poems build up their logic and then invert or transform it in the most satisfyingly surprising ways, and Buffam’s deadpan reading of them only serves to heighten their twists and discoveries. Everything is essential in these poems: every joke is razor sharp, every turn has been sanded down to the point of transparency. Theirs is a humor of great intelligence and openness to the possibilities of following seemingly logical thoughts through to their surprisingly inevitable conclusions. These are the aphorisms we need: after reading them, both the world around me and the history that has informed it seem endlessly fascinating and relentlessly possible.
